How to Report Pothole

Shared from the County of Kings Facebook Page

Want to know more about road maintenance/plowing in the Municipality of the County of Kings?

You can report a pothole in a road owned by the Municipality online by visiting https://www.countyofkings.ca/residents/services/potholes

To report a pothole, select the name of the Municipally-owned road from the dropdown menu on the website and fill out the form that appears.
If the name of the road of interest does not appear, it may be provincially or privately owned. The Kings County Road and Sidewalk Maintenance App can tell you who owns a road and who is responsible for maintaining/plowing it. Give the App a try today here: https://ow.ly/V3UT50XY6Ik

To report a pothole in a provincially-owned road, call 511.

Prepare for Winter Conditions

tractor and snow nov 2025

To all residents of Greenwood and the surrounding area:

  • Before you venture out this winter, check your vehicle now and ensure it’s ready for the season.

  • On local roads and highways, allow extra travel time and reduce your speed when conditions are poor.

  • Be especially attentive when snow-clearing trucks are at work — give them space and allow them to do their job safely.

  • Stay informed about local weather and road condition updates, and adjust plans accordingly.

Let’s work together to keep our community safe this winter — preparation and patience go a long way.

Province Reminds Drivers to Prepare for Winter Conditions | Government of Nova Scotia News Releases

Woods Restricted to Prevent Wildfires

Stay out of the woods Graphic 1920x1080 RELEASE ENG August 2025

🚨 IMPORTANT SAFETY UPDATE: RESTRICTIONS IN EFFECT AS OF AUGUST 5 🚨

If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s what Nova Scotia’s government has just announced to help prevent wildfires:

  • Woods are off-limits: As of 4:00 PM on August 5, all travel and activities in wooded areas—including hiking, camping, fishing, and vehicle use—are prohibited
    until at least October 15
    or until conditions improve.

  • Trail systems through woods are closed. You can still access beaches and open parks (non-wooded areas), but not via forested paths. Camping is only permitted
    in official campgrounds
    .

  • The provincewide burn ban remains in place — no open fires of any kind, anytime of day.

  • Fine for violations: Up to $25,000 for breaking these rules.

Still have options!

You can enjoy Nova Scotia’s beauty—safe options remain:

  • Explore beaches and coastal parks

  • Visit playgrounds, sports fields, and open greenspaces

  • Use charcoal or gas BBQs and cooking appliances according to manufacturer instructions

Please stay safe and respect the restrictions to protect our community and prevent fire risk during these extremely dry conditions.
